BAA’s 2018 Art Show Award Winners

The 48th Annual Badlands Art Show was held November 9 – 11, 2018.
Ramada Grand Dakota Lodge, Dickinson, North Dakota.
The judge for this years’ show was Ali Hein who is a Professor of Art at Bismarck State College.

2017 Badlands Art Show Dates Set

The Ramada Grand Dakota Ballroom will again be the site for the 47th Annual BAA Fall Show, November 10-12, 2017.

Entry deadline: October 16

The Badlands Arts Association is celebrating its 47th Annual Art Show. The three-day regional fine art show features many different artworks including clay pottery, oil paintings, water colors, pencil sketches, and photography.
There are three divisions to the show: amateur and professional. Student entries are coordinated through local schools.

The call for entries and entry forms have been mailed. If you want to be on our mailing list, please join our organization for early notice of our events.

The deadline for student entries remains October 31st. The deadline for ADULT entries is October 16.

The Badlands Art Association is a group of western North Dakota artists. We offer area artists of all abilities the opportunity to showcase their work. The BAA Art Show invites the public a venue to see the wide range of art being created in our area.

Summer Painting Workshop in Dickinson ND

Karen Knutson

Karen is a highly sought after workshop instructor and an award-winning artist. The workshop with Karen is actually THREE workshops rolled into one exciting weekend!
Karen paints in mixed media, trying to make her paintings fun and easy. Known for her jazzy colors and semi-abstract designs, she teaches watercolor-and-collage workshops across the country. Her teaching style is playful and relaxed and her explanations are accessible and easy to follow.

4-Day Workshop August 3 – 6, 2017
Dickinson, North Dakota

The workshop will be held over four days. You can purchase a one-day class or all four days. Pricing details can be found in the registration form.

Thursday, August 3: “Using Stencils & Illusionary Painting.”

Friday & Saturday, August 4 & 5: “Watercolor and Charcoal Pours”

Sunday, August 6: “Wire Drawing.”

If you are a K-12 art teacher and are looking for Continuing Education credit, we are thinking of you! Our 2016 workshop was able to offer 1 unit of Professional Development credit through the UND Extended Learning office. To earn one unit of credit, you will need to attend at least 3 days of Karen’s workshop.

The location: Biesot Activities Center on the Dickinson State University campus. Air-conditioned, filled with natural light, and plenty of space! The Badlands Art Association will provide munchies for us to graze on as we stretch our artistic muscles!!

2016 BAA Fall Art Show Dates Announced

The Ramada Grand Dakota Ballroom will again be the site for the 46th Annual BAA Fall Show, November 11-13, 2016.
Fargo artist Michael Dunn will judge this year’s show. As an added bonus, Dunn will offer three mini workshops and demonstrations throughout the day on Saturday, Nov. 12.
Thanks to a grant from the ND Council on the Arts, Dunn will lead a one-hour watercolor workshop for elementary students and then a 1 ½ hour watercolor workshop for junior and senior high students – both on Saturday morning. Times will be announced closer to the event. A demonstration for adults will be held Saturday afternoon.

BAA 2016 Art Show Dates:
November 11-13.
Entry deadline: October 17

A new amateur division has been added for this year’s show. There will be three divisions: student, amateur, and professional.
The call for entries and entry forms for the adult divisions will be mailed in August or can be downloaded here.

Student entries will be available through art teachers at area schools.
